Social Media Content Ideas for Bookkeepers
Dec 16, 2022Drawing a blank when it comes to creating social media content that speaks to your audience and captures the attention of your ideal bookkeeping or accounting clients?
Sometimes it's good to take a step back and think about the conversations you have with your existing clients and industry peers. Consider common topics, challenges or questions that are raised, how you address them, and what value or insights you provide.
The more relevant and real your conversation is, the better it will resonate with your audience. And while engagement might be key when it comes to social media metrics, it's also important to remember that if a potential lead is perusing your socials to get to know you a little better - they may be in stealth mode and not wish to let themselves be known. If this is the case, you may not see the likes/comments flow through, and feel that you are only 'speaking to the converted'. However, your content still plays a vital role in generating awareness, building your profile and authority, establishing a connection, and influencing their decision making process.
Social Media Prompt Ideas for Bookkeepers
The following prompts are a good place to start when planning out your bookkeeping social media content. Think about...
➡ Questions you're asked by clients on repeat (and your answer).
➡ A new compliance requirement or government announcement that impacts your industry.
➡ A problem or challenge that your clients face, and how you help solve it.
➡ Something you've learnt recently that really resonated.
➡ A new application or system you've introduced that has been a game-changer.
➡ Achievements and milestones that you're proud of.
➡ Your tips on how to avoid issues, or take advantage of opportunities in your industry.
Social Media Content Format Idea for Bookkeepers
There is no denying that video content and reels are the winners in today's social media landscape, so try your hand at a few short video pieces. 15 or 30 seconds is sometimes all you need to keep it relevant, authentic and insightful - don't feel you need to stretch it out.
Below is a simple format you can use when creating social content that's succinct, impactful and relevant to bookkeeping and accounting clients (whether you are creating static or video content):
- Lay the Foundation - The Problem - What is a common problem/challenge facing your clients (or a milestone they want to reach). Or, what is a problem/challenge you have faced in the past (or a milestone you have set out to reach)
- Paint a Picture - The Outcome - What would your clients' experience/life/business be like if that problem/challenge was eliminated (or the milestone was accomplished)? Or, what impact did overcoming a problem/challenge (or reaching a milestone) have on your own experience/life/business?
- Showcase Your Value - The Solution - How will you help your clients achieve this outcome? Or, how did you achieve it for yourself? Remember not to give away the secret ingredients or your IP - share just enough information to let them know that you are the real deal and could make a positive impact on their business, without showing them exactly how.
